A legal heir certificate in Uttar Pradesh is issued by the Tehsildar and identifies the legal heirs of a deceased person. It’s essential for claiming bank accounts, insurance, property, and government dues.

UP offers online application through the eSathi portal as well as offline submission at Tehsil offices.

Online Application: eSathi Portal

Uttar Pradesh’s eSathi (eServices Access to Help Individuals) portal enables online applications.

Step 1: Register on Portal

  1. Visit esathi.up.gov.in
  2. Click “नवीन उपयोगकर्ता पंजीकरण” (New User Registration)
  3. Enter:
    • Mobile number
    • Email address
    • Create login ID and password
  4. Verify via OTP
  5. Login with credentials

Step 2: Find the Service

  1. After login, go to आवेदन पत्र (Application Form)
  2. Select राजस्व विभाग (Revenue Department)
  3. Find “उत्तराधिकार/वारिस प्रमाण पत्र” (Legal Heir Certificate)
  4. Click Apply

Step 3: Fill Application Form

Deceased Person’s Details:

  • Full name (Hindi and English)
  • Father’s/Husband’s name
  • Date of death
  • Place of death
  • Last residential address
  • District, Tehsil, Village/Ward

  • Login to eSathi portal
  • Go to आवेदन की स्थिति (Application Status)
  • Enter application number
  • SMS updates will be sent
